Graham, Douglas

Douglas Graham, born in Jamaica West Indies in the late forties. Grew up in New York on the lower east side. Earliest interests in art began with student experience at the Henry Street Settlement Art Program under the tutelage of Ms. Mary Bonfiglio. I studied with her for about ten years working in pastels, acrylic and pencil. After several years of absence I continued my artistic development by resuming practice at the Arts Students League on 57th Street in Manhattan. At the league I studied with Oldrich Teply for many years and then within the last three years increased my learning experience by taking additional classes with Gregg Kreutz. At present I am attending full time morning classes and Friday evening classes at the League with both of the aforementioned instructors. My focus is in oil paintings on canvas with a primary interest in portraits. I have been a member of the Flatbush Artist Studio Tour for about two years and I intend to continue my association with this group for its direct connection to local communities of Brooklyn.
